Encrypt your iTunes backup

To protect your backups in iTunes, we can encrypt it by enter the passcode. And this page will show us how to encrypt your iTunes backup.

“I’m using the iTunes in my office PC, so when someone use my PC, I’m afraid he could see my backups in my iTunes. So i want to encode my backups in iTunes. But iTunes won’t do it by default, anyone knows how to encrypt your iTunes backup?

Yes, there is a way can help us encrypt your iTunes backup, for the first time encrypt, you’ll need to turn on password-protected Encrypt backup option.

Encrypt iTunes Backup

1.Launching your iTunes on PC, and make sure it’s with latest version.

2.Then connect your iPhone with PC, and your iPhone image icon will show up on the top left corner. Tap on Files--Summary, then you can see option “Encrypt iPhone Backup”, tap on it.



3.When it needs password, create one and remember it. When you confirm with the password, the iTunes will start doing backup, also overwrite and encrypt your former backups.

When finish backup, you can go to top for menu bar, tap on iTunes--Preference--Device, then you’ll see the lock image icon on the right of your image icon with the date and time you created this file. Then click OK to close it. Now you’ll make sure the backup is finished.
